  2. Follow the Main Scenario Guide and class quests to learn and unlock your role.

If you play on PC for long stretches, a comfortable mouse or headset makes a real difference. Razer's accessory range is one place to compare options; check platform compatibility first. (Affiliate link: we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. How links work.)

Playing Final Fantasy XIV

  1. Read and complete quest objectives and their final turn-in steps.
  2. Target enemies and use learned actions, respecting recasts, resources, movement restrictions and combos.
  3. Ordinary light-party dungeons use one tank, one healer and two DPS. Tanks manage attention, healers sustain, and DPS defeat enemies while following mechanics.
  4. Use Duty Finder for unlocked multiplayer duties or Duty Support for supported story duties with NPCs.
  5. Complete required objectives and final encounter to clear a dungeon, or retry after a wipe. Continue story/job progression afterward.

Synchronization changes tools, not purpose

A character enters a lower-level dungeon and a favorite later ability is unavailable. Check active actions and use the simpler permitted sequence. The tank still manages enemy attention and the healer still watches health. The duty reduced available tools; it did not remove each role’s responsibility.

See the encounter as well as the hotbar

A damage sequence is useful only while you survive and can act. Arrange important bars and party information for quick glances without covering ground warnings. Say when a dungeon is unfamiliar, and leave attention for the boss cast bar. A first clear does not require memorizing every future skill; it requires using the available toolkit and responding to the encounter. Level synchronization can deliberately simplify that toolkit, so read what remains active instead of treating disabled actions as a broken interface.

Beginner decisions

  • Practice a newly learned action’s relationship with the existing sequence rather than only pressing its glow.
  • When tanking, face enemies away from allies when practical; other roles should avoid standing next to the tank unnecessarily.

Common rule mix-ups

  • Skipping class/job quests.
  • Expecting later skills to remain usable in low-level synchronized duties.
