What you need

Hasbro Guess Who? Classic C2124 tabletop boards and mystery cards

Set up the game

  1. Both players display the same set of face characters on their boards. Each secretly chooses one mystery character; keep it hidden.
  2. This covers Hasbro C2124 Classic with 24 mystery characters and an optional five-win Championship Series. Licensed editions have different character sheets.

Playing Guess Who?

  1. Take turns asking a question answerable yes or no about the other player’s mystery character. Use the answer to fold down faces that can no longer match.
  2. Continue asking questions and eliminating candidates. When ready, use a turn to name the exact mystery character.
  3. A correct final guess wins that game; under this edition’s instructions an incorrect guess loses it. Play a series to five wins only if choosing the optional Championship format.

A broad question

If twelve faces remain and roughly half wear hats, asking about a hat can remove about six possibilities in one answer. Naming a single character immediately risks losing the game if wrong.

Only the opponent’s hidden card matters

The portraits on your own board are candidates for your opponent’s mystery, not options for your own secret card. A “no” answer to “Does your character wear glasses?” means close every candidate who does wear glasses on your board.

Beginner decisions

  • Ask a question that splits the remaining possibilities roughly in half rather than asking about one face too early.

Common rule mix-ups

  • Closing faces based on your own mystery character instead of the opponent’s answer.
  • Treating a wrong final identity guess as merely a missed turn in the Classic rules.

Does the game require five wins?

No. A single correct identity guess wins one game; five wins is an optional series.
