How to play Roblox Obby
Navigate a Roblox obstacle course by jumping between platforms, avoiding hazards and reaching the final platform.
What you need
A Roblox account and compatible device; select an obstacle-course experience whose controls and age settings fit the player
Set up the game
- Search Roblox experiences for an obby and read the specific creator's description before joining. 'Obby' describes a genre, not one official game with fixed stages.
- On entering, locate the start, controls, hazard cues and checkpoint indicators. This guide uses Roblox's Classic Obby template as an example rather than claiming every creator uses it.
If you play on PC for long stretches, a comfortable mouse or headset makes a real difference. Razer's accessory range is one place to compare options; check platform compatibility first. (Affiliate link: we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. How links work.)
Navigate obstacles and checkpoints
- Move from platform to platform, timing jumps around gaps and hazards. Hazards in a particular experience may reset your character to a checkpoint.
- Touch or cross each checkpoint if the chosen course has them. After a fall, use the respawn location to see whether it saved progress.
- Continue through the stages to the final platform or finish marker. Some experiences add timed runs, badges or optional purchases; their own on-screen instructions determine those conditions.
A failed jump after a checkpoint
You touch a marked checkpoint, then miss the next moving platform and respawn. You return to that marked platform, so you can attempt the jump again without replaying the earlier section. If you instead restart at the entrance, the experience may require a different marker or may have no checkpoint at that stage.
What a checkpoint actually means
In the Classic Obby pattern, checkpoints break a long course into shorter attempts. If you fall after reaching one, you generally restart there rather than at the beginning. Because creators can modify that system, check for a checkpoint confirmation and use the course's own feedback, not a rule borrowed from another obby.
Beginner decisions
- Stop before a difficult edge and look at the next safe landing area; a small controlled jump is often more reliable than running at full speed.
- After reaching a checkpoint, confirm where a fall respawns you before attempting an unfamiliar long section.
Common rule mix-ups
- Assuming a checkpoint activated just because you passed nearby; touch the actual marker when required by that experience.
- Treating the name 'Roblox Obby' as an official title with universal score or stage count.
Questions about this game
Do all obbies save progress?
No. Checkpoint and save behavior is chosen by each creator; the Classic Obby template shows common checkpoints, not a universal guarantee.
Must I buy a skip to finish?
No for Roblox's sample Classic Obby; third-party courses set their own monetization. Read the experience details before purchasing.
