What you need

Call of Duty: Warzone on a supported platform with an Activision account and online connection

Set up the game

  1. Choose Battle Royale rather than Resurgence or another playlist. Check squad size, map and current in-game redeploy rules because seasonal playlists change.
  2. Use the training or Bootcamp option if currently offered to learn the map, armor and Buy Stations.

If you play on PC for long stretches, a comfortable mouse or headset makes a real difference. Razer's accessory range is one place to compare options; check platform compatibility first. (Affiliate link: we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. How links work.)

Playing Call of Duty: Warzone

  1. Choose a drop point with your squad, find weapons, ammunition and armor, and use the tactical map to track the next safe zone.
  2. Complete optional contracts for cash and information. A Buy Station may offer equipment or teammate redeploys according to that season's rules; watch nearby enemies before using one.
  3. Move ahead of the encroaching gas. In modes with a Gulag, an eligible eliminated player may get a separate chance to return; that opportunity is not a guarantee or available for the entire match.
  4. Fight through shrinking zones until one player or squad remains. Eliminations and cash are resources toward survival, not the Battle Royale win condition.

A contract versus the next circle

A nearby contract would pay cash, but its objective is beyond the next safe zone. If the gas is about to move, rotate first, then look for a safer opportunity. Cash is only useful if the squad survives to spend it.

The gas is another opponent

The safe area shrinks even if your squad never fights. A successful early drop can still fail if your route to the next zone is blocked. Use the map to identify cover and an entry path before the timer forces a late sprint.

Beginner decisions

  • Stay near teammates when crossing open ground so a downed player has a chance of help.
  • Check the map before taking a contract deep outside the coming safe zone.

Common rule mix-ups

  • Assuming every Warzone playlist has the same Gulag and respawn rules; Resurgence differs.
  • Spending time at a Buy Station without covering approaches or checking the gas timer.

Questions about this game

Does a Gulag win always bring me back?

The publisher's Battle Royale guide describes a Gulag opportunity while it remains open, but eligibility and seasonal details must be checked in the current match.

Is Warzone Mobile this same game?

No. This guide is for the console and PC Warzone experience, not the separate mobile title.
