What you need

Counter-Strike 2 on Steam, a PC and an online connection

Set up the game

  1. Practice weapon handling and the buy menu, then select a bomb-defusal map and queue. Identify the two bomb sites and the round's attack or defense side.
  2. This guide describes a standard bomb-defusal loop; Casual, Competitive and Premier differ in match length, economy and overtime.

If you play on PC for long stretches, a comfortable mouse or headset makes a real difference. Razer's accessory range is one place to compare options; check platform compatibility first. (Affiliate link: we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. How links work.)

Playing Counter-Strike 2

  1. During freeze time, buy available equipment with your team's economy. Attackers carry the bomb toward a plant site; defenders hold sites and rotate when information arrives.
  2. Eliminations remove players for that round. Attackers can win by detonating a planted bomb or eliminating defenders before a plant; defenders can win by preventing the plant through the clock, eliminating attackers before the bomb is planted, or defusing an armed bomb.
  3. If the bomb is planted, defenders must reach and defuse it before it detonates even if all attackers are eliminated. Start the next round with the resulting money and sides as that mode specifies.

One attacker left, bomb already armed

Your team eliminates the last attacker near A. The bomb is still counting down. One defender checks a likely angle while the other begins a defuse; both running off to search for enemies would surrender the round.

The planted bomb outlives the planter

A defender can eliminate every attacker after a plant and still lose if the bomb detonates before a defuse. Conversely, eliminating all attackers before the plant ends the round for the defenders. That timing distinction shapes how defenders position after hearing a plant.

Beginner decisions

  • Stand still or counter-strafe before a precise shot; moving while firing many rifles reduces accuracy.
  • Buy with teammates so several players have adequate equipment in the same round instead of one isolated expensive loadout.

Common rule mix-ups

  • Thinking a last-kill automatically wins the defender round after a plant; the armed bomb still needs defusing.
  • Buying every round without regard for team economy and arriving with no utility when others save.

Questions about this game

Do players respawn mid-round?

No in standard bomb defusal; eliminated players return for the next round.

Is a bomb-defusal match won by most kills?

No. Rounds are earned through the objective and elimination conditions, then the match follows its selected mode's round target.
